So I (19F) recently met this guy (20M) in one of my college classes. We get along great and have so much in common. We started working on a class project together, and he gave me his number to communicate for that. But after awhile, we started having long text chats unrelated to the project. Around 10-20 messages per day. And then some funny snaps.
All of this would be great except he has a girlfriend. Of 5 years. All of his messages have been platonic (though some of it is flirty banter), but I do feel guilty. If I was his gf, I would be a little upset he was talking to another girl this much.
This happened to me once before, my male friend was snapping me everyday and his gf got mad. I don’t want this to happen again.
Should I back off on the texting?

Honestly, if you wanna be friends with this guy and not come across as a threat to his gf, you need to insist that you meet her and try to become friends with her.
If he refuses or is weird about it it means that the friendship has crossed a line (likely emotionally for him) and that you need to take a step back. If he agrees then you are not in an inappropriate place in his mind.
