"Whaaaat? Why didn't you tell me before? This is the first time I've heard this!"

"I'm only hearing about this today!"

Every single time you tell them something, it's the "first time" you told them.

Except it isn't. The previous 100 times you told them, they didn't listen. They talked over you, interrupted you, replaced your response with their own thoughts, finished your sentences incorrectly, rolled their eyes at you, snorted at you, barked "I don't care!" at you, etc.

Then, they have the fucking audacity to say you never told them before.

It seems that a solid 1/4th of the population has this kind of social disability. How do we get through to such people – do we need to communicate them with writing, like we would at work?
