I have recently been married and my partner and his mother are constantly bulldozing and neglecting me as a person (we live together!) I feel infantilized and small. My opinion isn’t awarded the most basic respect it deserves. However yet I am expected to remain cheerful and to consistently put up a smiling face. The only person who treats me like a thinking adult is my partner’s dad and for this I like talking to him. My partner’s mother is overbearing and I don’t get along with her opinion and way of saying things in matters of conversation. I used to discuss her with my husband but I have realized now that it is not only futile but unhealthy for our relationship. I hope things get better between me and him. I do intend to make my marriage work.

Sounds like you have a husband problem and an accommodation problem.

Yes I live in India very much. Most often when I voice my opinion to my husband, he either starts cross-examining me like I am a suspect in a Lie Detector Test, or he starts making jokes to kind of brush the whole thing under the carpet.
This is a husband problem
