Having 3 boys, each are so different in what impacted them. Really varies by child but definitely agree with natural consequences being a big lesson for kids to learn.
My dad was a big proponent of natural repercussions when they were not severe for example he let me mess around with a rubber band as a kid and I nailed myself in the dick with it somehow at 3-4 years old but he didn’t let me skateboard down the driveway into oncoming traffic
Phonebook is best but those arnt what they used to be, too thin. Best is the tried and true belt. Almost always handy.
I used time-outs with my kids, it was effective
As a toddler age. Time out. Whipping is reserved for sever mistakes that could harm them (ironic but gets the point across faster). As a teenager you have to match the crime to the punishment more. So limiting electronics or friends time, or maybe chores works better.
5 and under I believe a good swat on the butt. you can’t reason with small kids and having them run in front of a car or something is too big of a risk for a timeout.
after 5ish (depending on the kid), timeouts and lack of electronics works pretty well.
