Hi, me and 8 of my friends are in Norway for about two weeks, and we were wondering what supermarkets are generally cheaper than others. I am aware that supermarkets and the generell cost of living in Norway is way more expensive in comparison to other european countries but a few tipps would be great. Also if u have some some tipps about what brands to buy for basic food and water/milk something like that pls tell me. Thanks in advance for ur help!

Wouldn’t it make much more sense to ask this in the Norwegian subreddit?
This is definitely not the place to ask this. You could try r/Norway
REMA 1000 will only require you to sell *one* kidney each
but the food will be shit
sorry, I don’t make the rules
Locally for me, Kiwi is the cheapest of all the big supermarkets, with Meny and Coop Mega being the most expensive. Also Joker stores are open on Sundays, but you’ll pay almost motorway services prices for basics.
Milk is normally Q or Tine with no real difference in quality, most places have a First Price range of lower priced foods. Cheapest bread is normally Kneipp, which can be as low as 9 nok a loaf.
If you have to buy water, then you can get 5 litre bottles for cheap in supermarkets. Otherwise tap water is drinkable all over the country. Unless there’s a sign saying IKKE DRIKKEVANN.
There are no good supermarkets in Norway.
Generally, the cheapest options are these 3:
Extra, KIWI and Rema 1000. Store brand stuff is often cheaper, like first price, eldorado, coop, rema 1000. Check the price tags.
If you want to cook, you could also check out exotic markets. They often have cheaper pantry staples, vegetables and herbs.
