A friend of mine is planning to throw a party next week, so he put a bunch of people he knows in a group chat and asked if they would be able to attend on a certain night. It’s been almost ten days, and only a quarter of them have responded. The party is supposed to be next Saturday, so it’s unlikely that all of them are still unsure about whether they’ll be able to attend that night.

I felt bad for him, and this got me thinking. Surely, the people who haven’t responded are in the wrong. In my opinion, it shows a lack of respect towards the host.

What are—generally speaking—the traits of a person’s personality that cause others to treat them this way? Of course, we cannot control what others think of us, but there must be some behaviors that lead people to lose respect for you.
