I (23) work as a teachers aid in a school with elementary school kids anywhere between 5-12 years old.
I don't know how to talk with them. I know they are just people but small and I'm doing my best to treat them the way I wanted to be treated at that age, but I feel so awkward? Do I have to start watching paw patrol or something so I can talk to them about it?
I've got the patience down. A lot of the time they just want to talk about sharks with someone who listen, but what about the other times where they just want to talk with an adult who wants to spend time with them? I want to show interest in what they're doing, watching, etc. because I always felt sad when the adults never showed interest, but I don't know how.
