My wife was waiting for a Facebook marketplace porch pick up. The person was late so my wife removed the items from our porch and went downstairs.

I noticed some people pull up and they looked like they might fit the marketplace people.

They sat there for a few minutes and so I went to the stairs to yell down, “I think they’re here”. I used her cutesy nickname so it was more like “hey love, I think they’re here”. She didn’t hear me and so I yelled louder “hey, I think they’re here”. I immediately heard an annoyed tone in her voice.

She came upstairs and was nearly in tears, apparently when I yelled down it startled her while she was hanging a photo. The photo dropped and nicked her diploma cover, leaving a mark.

She asked me not to yell at her and played the victim card pretty hard in my opinion.

I’m honestly at a loss. I understand the frustration she’s feeling. I also don’t feel like I did anything wrong. These types of situations happen regularly and I’m made out to be the villain, having to apologize etc. I try very hard to be soft because she is a sensitive person.

Has anyone experienced someone who regularly plays the victim? What the hell do I even do? It seems like no matter how hard I try to be gentle with her, she’s always finding a reason for me to have to apologize and feel bad.
