I have 2 older siblings who are autistic (highly functioning), but they didn't get a diagnosis until they were adults. I think this played a huge part why my social skills were horrible during school years, I was always a bit awkward, I couldn't talk to the opposite gender and I was always shy and anxious in group conversations. I still struggle in my adult years even if things have gotten a lot better since I moved out and started my own journey.

I suspect that I didn't have the same opportunities as other kids to learn the right social skills from early stages. Behaviours that was normal in my home wasn't normal in society, and I was probably damaged from learning a lot of habits from my ND siblings

How about you guys? Are there other people out there who have/had ND family members when you grew up and how did this affect you and your social skills? Feel free to share
