Is saying “sure” when some one asks if you kid wants a small fork then “thank you” when they give it rude?

I have social anxiety and obsess over tiny things I do or don’t do. If a friend had us for dinner and asked if my daughter wanted a toddler sized fork and I just said sure and thank you when she brought it is the sure not polite? In retrospect I wish I said yes please. But is “sure” not an appropriate response for something like that? Or something like “sure that’d be great. “Is that much different from saying “yes please?”
