For me it’s Papa John’s! Tangy sauce, chewy dough and the garlic special sauce is horrendous!!!!

Over to you!

Edit; Goly Gosh Batman this post is gaining traction.
I can’t respond to everyone but I’m reading as many comments as I can.

Goodnight!

  1. Any one you put around your neck or try lock your bike up with, wouldn’t work very well

  2. There’s so much good artisan pizza out there now in most parts of the UK I wonder why anyone still orders domino’s or papa John’s or pizza hut.

  3. Personally, Dominos. Ridiculously expensive and their toppings have become even more stingy recently. I won’t be using them any more.

  4. Papa Johns have the worst garlic sauce by a country mile, that’s true.

Dominoes has the most annoying website, which makes it the most difficult to just order a pizza at a reasonable price without having to do background research on deals, vouchers, etc. that’s put me off ordering from them for quite a few years now.

  5. My kids like a papa johns, HOWEVER I noticed the other day they now want 1.99 for delivery so they can get fucked. For me delivery is part of the purchase price at these chains, that’s why you get such good deals on collection.

  6. They’re all pretty shit. Bought a pizza stone for about £15 the other week and now just make our own. So easy to do! Top tip is to use flat bread for the base.

  7. All the big chains
Pizza Hut is just cardboard with a light dusting of topping the box it comes in tastes better .
Domino’s is just overpriced base with a dusting of cheese and topping only tastes a little better than the box
    Pappa John’s is just meh
Pizza express is tasty but really not that special for the price.

Now my small local pizza place is just banging great perfect pizza almost every time and they are decently priced almost half of a Domino’s and more pizza and generous with the toppings.

  8. These days we get Cheese Feast Stonebaked pizzas from Iceland and chuck what we want extra on top. Only two quid each and 13 minutes in the oven.

  9. I think they’re all overpriced and declining quality. Supermarket pizzas have become so good that I can’t warrant the takeaway price anymore. Instead I always have a ‘standby’ pizza in the fridge or freezer and cook that myself when we get that pizza craving

  10. Papa Johns pizza is shite but that sauce is god sent. I could probably drink it by the gallon

  11. Fireaway Pizza

Got a leaflet through the door a few days ago and the photos on the menu looked amazing. Looked like real handmade from scratch stone baked Italian pizza.

What we got… like a dominos pizza with almost no sauce, dry cheese and was so thin it was totally cold by time I got half way though it.

  12. The worst is any local ‘chip shop’ pizza. I’m sure there’s plenty out there that people will swear by but I’m yet to try one myself that really beats a Pizza chain for anything other than price – not suggesting that’s everyone’s motivation for a good takeaway though.

Out of Papa Johns, Pizza Hut and Dominos I’d say PJ is the worst and Dominos the best but you really just can’t beat a pizza from a local Italian (just a shame they rarely deliver and you have to collect!)

  13. The most I’ve ever been disappointed was when I accidentally ordered from a Pizza Hut *takeaway* as opposed to ordering takeaway from a pizza hut restaurant. You wouldn’t think there would be a difference but holy smokes there is a difference!

Papa Johns is the worst by a mile though and seems to cost an absolute fortune for the displeasure!

  14. Order from papas once as they had some different fake meat and was different to elsewhere (I am vegetarian.it had fake pepperoni on it but real bacon.when rang up to complain they first asked if could pick the bits out.then said a replacement would be sent but they demanded old one be given back.45 mins later new one arrived but driver refused to take old one so he phoned store and they insisted.new one was cold!

  15. Oh god I am so with you.

When I tried their sauce I was like “surely nobody actually likes this?”

I mean wtf is it? It’s awful

  16. Love me some Papa’s! I think the issue with Papa John’s garlic sauce is that you are expecting it to be the dominoes sauce, which it’s not, it’s garlic butter. Now I know that I prefer it to Domino’s sauce now. Papa’s also do a garlic and herb which is similar to Domino’s.

  17. I’ve found it varies massively upon location tbh and living rurally means we only have 2 places that deliver.

Our best local pizza is Papa John’s sadly, they’re usually pretty decent and it’s a 20 minute drive as opposed to 45 for a proper pizza.

That said, I’m just being lazy. I’ve got an ooni and the thing is incredible

  18. Where I am the papa John’s is better than the dominos that will deliver to my town, so papa John’s. If I go a town over then dominos because there are several good ones.

The papa John’s garlic sauce makes me feel sick, even just the smell of it.

  19. Papa John’s gave my vegetarian daughter a pizza with chicken on it, first and last time they ever got my business. Especially after they tried to argue that’s what we’d ordered

  20. Zizzis! Small pizzas, every single one seems to be drenched in oil, very stingy on the toppings, vastly overpriced! Give me a Tesco finest or pizza express from the chilled aisle any day.

  21. TIL my love of papa johns special garlic sauce is a controversial opinion

  22. Every chain is horrendous. Papa John’s is the least horrendous.

Any kebab shop pizza that isn’t a drugs front has a way superior pizza

  23. What is it with pizza prices in the UK? Pizza costs a fortune, relative to other countries or other kinds of food.

  24. Papa John’s has the slogan better ingredients better pizza. Pizza hut took them to court in the USA stating the fact that they use the same ingredients and the pizza is not better. Papa John’s won the case because the court stated nobody believes company slogans anyway. Fuck Papa John’s they are lying cunts.

  25. I love Papa John’s! But to be fair, mainly because their vegan options are incredible, Domino’s vegan options are dire (unless they’ve added more since I last checked – last I knew they only had 2).
The sides at Papa John’s are delicious as well
