I graduated when covid was big (2020), moved back to my small hometown, and ended up with a fully remote job. Since then, I haven’t made any new friends. I’m still in touch with old friends but don’t get to see them very often, so I’m lonely most of the time.

I’ve finally decided to start putting myself out there- I got a new, hybrid job based a big city nearby. Once I start I plan to go to meet-ups or maybe join a weekly class. I’m nervous but optimistic.

However, it’s been a while since I’ve socialized with strangers/built friendships. It would help a lot to hear from other people who have been in my position and managed to get out of it. If you had a big “no friends” gap after college (at least 2+ years) feel free to share!

TLDR: just looking to hear from people who took a long time to make new friends after graduating college

  1. I’m still working on that. I graduated in 2006 and started driving trucks in 2008, and made a free friends at that first driving job. I still struggle with that, both at work and outside of work.
