Do you talk with your friends while in a taxi?

So today after work a friend of my mine asked me if I wanted to take a taxi with her, I said sure. When we got into the car, we didn’t talk for the whole journey. It just felt weird to talk when the taxi driver was in front of us. We were quiet for the whole journey, it did feel kinda awkward, so I was wondering if anyone else just stay quiet? We are fine when we are at work but, we talk about anything but in this situation it felt awkward to say anything.
