This is my first time posting here and I think I might turn this into a little thread about my next few months. I need a place where I can write what I feel and maybe find someone who relates to it along the way!

First, English isn’t my first language, so bear with me. I´m 18 years old and I just graduated from high school!!! I´m still waiting for my exam scores, but I should get into university in September. I also want to add that I enjoy reading books (I’m waiting for an order I made last week – never let me go book by Kazuo Ishiguro) and Lorde’s biggest fan. And think that’s enough about \*me\* for now.

About college and everything around it: My last 3 years have shown me that I want more for my life uk. I want to meet new places, people, and ideas. I want to experience life ig. I feel like I haven’t done anything “great” for myself. I don’t feel particularly happy with who I am and I want to face college as a new opportunity. I will be going to this BIG BIG city with two people I already know. One of them used to be my best friend but we kinda drove each other apart, and the other it’s their friend that I have gotten to know more about in the recent year.

I think I can make this work out for me. But I get so nervous for every thought about college, rent, meeting new people or going out, etc. Is going to be a challenge, but I need this, or else I might get stuck here for a reallllyyy looonggg time.

That’s it for today! This was a spontaneous post. If you have any advice about this new chapter ig, feel free to share it

\* Tomorrow I’m going to know if I got the place I want, so let’s hope everything goes well.

  1. I think it is great you want to meet new people, go new places, and experience new things. My advice, don’t be afraid to expand your circle when in college. You mentioned you will be going to college with some other people you already know. So I just want to put this small advice out there that it is a lot easier when going to college to stick with the small bubble of people you already versus putting yourself out there and meeting new people. Also meeting new people will definitely teach you how to interact with all kinds of different people and you might make some long term friendships too. Secondly, be confident in who you are and don’t give into pressures from others while in college. If there is anything you DON’T want to do, that’s okay. If anyone tells you otherwise, then they aren’t worth your time because true friends will respect your boundaries. Lastly, it’s never a bad idea later in your college years to try studying abroad for a semester or two. Studying abroad will definitely give you a different outlook on many things in life and even help you appreciate your own country more. I wish you best of luck OP in your journey to college!
