A couple days ago my best friend from Europe finally came back to America to visit me. He is freshly single as well. We hung out a few days and then made plans to go to the beach with my girlfriend who he has never met before. Keep in mind, my girlfriend and I had a rough few weeks and have been arguing. We were working through things. My friend knew about this and expected this.

Time to go to the beach, we decided to hit the beach bar. My gf was pretty upset at me still, so she just sat down and looked at her phone. Ignored me essentially. My friend noticed this and said she looked awkward. He then proceeded to talk to some girls. And stayed with my gf to just let her know I’m with her.

My friend continued to talk to the girl….for the next 2 hours. I even told him we were headed down to the beach and he said he would meet me later. He eventually did. I guess I understand my gf and I weren’t the funnest because she was upset at me, so I get he was trying to make his own fun. But still, looking back he literally left “the group” for 3 hours. What are your thoughts? Thank you.

  1. Sounds like your friend was just trying to have a good time at the beach. If you and your gf were being better friends, you would have joined him with the girls and talked him up. You could have made some new friends too. Why did he have to *only* hang out with you?

  2. Good for him and I am glad he had a pleasant time with that girl. Of course one could feel he could spend the time with you instead of being social with her but life is life and life is at it’s best in this present moment. Who knows perhaps your friends could meet the love of his life.

  3. I’ve been where your friend was, not the talking with other girls part but the ‘I feel like I shouldn’t be here’ part, and trust me it’s a really awkward situation to be in.
